What is gaAddons?
It's a collection of useful enhancements to extend and improve upon the default Google Analytics implementation. I was surprised by the level of interest for gaAddons - practitioners, freelancers and agencies have started to integrate it and several people participated in the beta, contributing to increased quality and a huge list of future enhancements ideas.Why use gaAddons?
So far, it includes the following features:- Google Analytics async-like syntax
- Lightweight footprint
- Compatible with any config supported by jQuery
Current Google Analytics enhancements include:
- _setDayOfWeek: create a new session-level metric with day parting
- _setHourOfDay: create a new session-level metric with time parting
- _trackDownloads: automatically track download links
- _trackMailTo: automatically track mailto links
- _trackOutbound: automatically track outbound links (links leaving your site)
- _trackRealBounce: enhance the bounce rate metric by firing an event after 30 seconds on the 1st page of a visit
- _4Q: easily integrate 4Q from iPerceptions, one of the best Web Analytics 2.0 tools for voice of customer mentioned by Avinash Kaushik
- _trackError: easily add tracking for your broken links (HTTP 404) and server errors custom pages (HTTP 500)
- _trackLoadTime: track page loading time
- _setDualMode: easily send GA data to your own servers!
- _options: easily overwrite default gaAddons behavior
Future enhancements will include:
