"Jeux du Commerce 2008" is an annual inter-university competition bringing together the top management students from 13 universities in eastern Canada. The 20th edition of the Jeux will run from January 4 to 6, 2008 at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). The event will be presented under the theme "Innovation, the solution."1,400 students will square off against each other in academic cases from ten different disciplines, including Management Information Systems, for which I will be one of the three member Jury. The case students will have to solve is taken from a real life situation and is very representative of todays challenges for IS/IT managers.
Being a member of the Jury is both challenging and rewarding. On Saturday, in a fast-paced schedule, each team will have one hour straight to put their Business Process Analysis skills to work and come up with their recommendation. Evaluation criteria are rigorous and as in real life, it is likely there won't be one single best solution, but a multiple of small elements that will make one team stand out. This is going to be fun!
